Red Wings!

The best? I rooted for the Oilers and thought that both teams played extremely well. The 'Canes are a good southern team made up of a lot of players that aren't even from America, let alone the South. I was born and raised in Georgia. I LOVE hockey. But, I have a hard time believing that SOUTHERN teams know anything about ICE sports.

GO BLUES!!!!!! Better luck next season!

By defining the word team you mean the Buffalo Sabres. Just look at how their scoring was spread around the entire team. Everyone on the team had a major part in their sucess this past season. Looking around the NHL their aren't many other teams that can say the same thing. They didn't need a high paid player like Forsburg or Heatley for sucess.. look what Buffalo did to them in the first two rounds of the playoffs... LETS GO BUFFALO!!

Hmmm, best to watch? Best in the standings? Best in history?
My favorite team to watch is the Detroit Red Wings, although I loved them even more when the Russian Five were playing. Stanley Cup Champs are the Carolina Hurricaines, although Edmonton gave them a great run for the money. Best in history? Well the Montreal Canadians, aka the Habs, have their name on the Stanley Cup more times then any other team. Next most is Toronto, then Detroit.

A very good question. If every playoff matchup was replayed it is very possible that Edmonton and Carolina might not be the teams in the final. Being hot at the right time and getting the breaks can get you a championship. But, are you the best team?

Meagan hit it right on the head.
Since the Hurricanes are Cup champs, they currently are the best hockey team.

Looking at other peoples responses, they had to have put there favourite team, because no offence to them, but most of those teams suck right now.

One Maple Leaf fan to confirm, the Montreal Canadians, 1976 team, best game ever, Montreal vs Red Army No comparison, Montreal record 60 wins 8 losses 12 ties, NO 5 MINUTE OVERTIME, case settled, Sorry Detroit fans.....

Right now? The Cup champion 'Canes get that.

Of all-time--probably that '70s dynasty Hab team (even if the WHA diluted the quality of the NHL at the time, the Habs were still so dominant in the regular season + playoffs all four years).

I'm not a fan but, San Jose is going to be a very good team IF they can get consistent goaltending from Toskala and Nabokov.

Now rumour has it Nabokov is on his way out BUT, it's going to be tough to unload that big salary.

One team that needs a good goalie and that should take a chance on him is Detroit. Nevermind the old farts like Eddie the eagle and Osgood, they need to go for younger guys.
