I think your quandry is simply one of a matter of trust. If you aren't a good judge of character, then a simple test that won't hurt you or the person involved would be your best bet. Send him to the store and see if he gives your change back! That is a sure fire sign of whether he can be trusted or not.

Oddly enough, I don't believe in first impressions. Second, even third, impressions usually prove true, but in the end, trust your instincts. As for liars...if he's a bad one, you'll be able to catch in a lie, and if he's a good one, you don't want to hang out with that kind of thing any how.

Not sure what context you mean, but always be careful, especially when dealing with people over the internet. If you are considering a financial transaction, research extensively to make sure it is not fraud. It is better to be safe than sorry. If you feel doubt, trust it.

You know, usually your first impression is the right one. Go with what you feel in your gut. It pretty much works for me and I may have been wrong a few times, but as much as I've been right, I trust my instinct.

well, if you're doing a business deal why not run a background check? you can get them for under $100 and they can save you lots of money in the long run.
