went down tremendously. Everytime I blink my eye it hurts terribly, and is only affecting my left eye. It has been watering like crazy. I want to go to the doctor but my gold card(sort of like medicade)has expired. Is there anything i can do to prevent the pain. I have a blind date tomorrow I can't possibly go with my eye looking like this. Are there any cheap over the counter medicine I can take. I have antibiotics and handle bars(nerve relaxers) will they help my condition are make it worse.

You want to go see a doctor. Your eye is not something you want to go sticking random things in for a quick fix. It might be something simple like you got a small particle of something in your eye and it has scratched your cornea. Same thing happened with my daughter. Her eye was so agitated that the surrounding eyes swelled shut. Other than flushing her eye out, they told us that we would just have to wait to see how the eye would heal and to make sure we weren't agitating it more by rubbing it, etc.

From my personal experience, it sounds to me like you may have a corneal scratch or abrasion. They are very painful as the cornea has many nerves. Symptoms are excessive watering, pain and sensitivity to light. In the E.R., they patched my eye and prescribed antibiotic drops because "opportunistic infections" are often a complication and can result in loss of vision. If the eye is patched, it lessens the pain and healing is quite quick (often 24 hours) as long as there is nothing imbedded in the eyeball. This can be very serious and does warranty a visit to at least an after-hours clinic...Good luck with this (and your blind date...*wink*)
