I seeded with what I had in the garage, which is probably 3 years old, and so far.....nothing, so I'm wondering.

yes, as the seed ages it will loose its ability to germinate due to drying out or rotting, see the label on the bag and it should have a use by date...normally its sold for 1 year from the date on the bag.

The bag I have in the garage says packed for use in 2006. That being said, I used a bag I had last year to overseed the lawn that was packed for use in 2000. Most of it sprouted.

you could try reading the bag, if it has one, it should say on there somewhere

also it might not be growing because of lack of sunlight or water (i do not know what you lawn is like). You might just need to fertilize it.
