I'm 20 days late, had some cramping/back pain about 8 days after my period was due (and was SURE that it was starting) and more mild cramping/back pain today...took 2 hcg tests in the last 2 weeks, both came back neg. Trying to make an appt for the earliest date available with my gyno, should I waste the $ and buy another home test?

Would you do anything different? If not, don't drink or smoke, just in case, and go see your doc. Most places use a urine test and don't even do blood tests any more.

I would suggest calling your doctor and asking them to order a blood HcG test. That way, you can go get it done, they send the results to your doctor and then you can call to get them from them. Or you can go to the hospital and get one done for yourself. They will charge you, but a blood test will show much sooner then a home test will, and will show lower amounts of hormones then the urine tests will.

If your doctor can't get you in for a while, check and see if they have other doctors working with them. Sometimes they can make an appointment for a different doctor that works with them.
