We are all still here now! We are the generation in control now. Some of our generation were not like the rest of us. That is why there is so much trouble in the country when all we wanted was Love and Peace all around the world. The War in Iraq reminds us too much of Vietnam. Our soldiers getting killed for no good reason and we hate it! No one from the Hippies of our generation did try to get control of the White House or the Congress, so our thoughts and good things that we wanted did not go on!

Some grew out of it, for it was a phase during this youth. Some quietly and peacefully kept the faith and are still doing their thing.
Some today might be identified as "green" or "new-age".
And I have hope that in every generation there are those with the hippy view of life, even though it may not be called "hippy" these days.

This former Hollywood hippie is alive and well, and looking for my old hippie friends that lived in my one-room apartment in Hollywood, 1968.
Rhoda, Puppet, Grape, Donde, Jim, Jocko, Moses, John, Electric, Rick, Bob, and all of you other guys and gals that were there in '68!
Hey guys, where are you? Alive, and well, I hope!
Thanks for the fun and fond memories.
Peace!
The hippie culture was a lifestyle! Some of us held jobs, others panhandled, some took and/or sold drugs, did what they could to help pay the rent. Each of my hippie friends was responsible for giving me money for rent and food.
Most of my hippie friends were from WEALTHY familes that wanted to "throw millions of dollars at them" so they, could become "part of the system."

hippie is a state of mind/consciousness, more than anything else. and, yes we are alive and well. and, yes some of us are college profs. we did and are still doing what i feel are beneficial things associated with the environment, and general humanitarian/humanistic activities. how will our "epoch" end? being basically, heart- centered folks, we'll keep trying to help the best we can, and at least we'll never wind up like the formerly "young republicans" (we grew up with), currently, the morbidly obese christo fascist republicans now peopling wash. d.c. and elsewhere.

Hippies were apart of the fad of the 60s and mid 70s. Just like all fads, they dwindle.

there are still hippies out there, they have just changed. most hippies i know now are all about conserving the environment and eating healthy, instead of stopping the wars.

They're still out there, there are just more rules now so they can't be as free in public...and they dress better now...and now they have to worry about AIDS...it's all very sad for the hippies.
