Definitely Accounting if you have the ability. Good pay is hard to find without a bachelor's degree, so he can expect 3-4 years depending on how hard he works. Depending on the company, accountants can usually start off in the 40 of thousands of dollars, and as you gain experience, you get many pay increases. It is also a very in demand field, placement rates are in the 90 percents! Accounting is challenging but rewarding. There is also a lot of knowledge you can use for your personal life as well such as budgeting and taxes. It's a great field, and I think he should consider that!

Your BF needs to take an aptitude test to see what his strengths and interests are. A career counseling center should be the first place he visits. Incidentally, auto mechanics get paid extremely well and they're always in demand;)

why are you doing this for him. It's his life. Are you his mom or something? If he's too lazy to get off his *** and look at colleges then I doubt he has the motivation to take on the work-load, in any field. Besides, YOU APPLY TO COLLEGE BEFORE YOU GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL, AS IN THE BEGINNING TO MIDDLE OF YOUR SENIOR YEAR.

Have him try taking a personality test to hone in on the things he likes and careers that match it.
