I think what Zidane did to Materazzi was absolutely correct. If you cannot respect a legend u deserve that.

Not many know what was said between the two of them... but consider this, Zidane is not known to act in that manner, he's always acted a professional... so if Materazzi said something THAT offbase to warrent a that reaction, then he got what he deserves... plus, Zidane did what most of us would love to do at the end of a job, punch a coworker!

I do believe that Zidane was right, but as a veteran and the capt of the french team, he should know better than to lose his cool with a loud mouth defender. Just like in every sport there is always a heckler that just wants to get under your skin, and push your buttons to make you loose composure, but that is apart of being a world class player, to let the bull go in one ear and out the other. Disappointing way to end your career.

I don't think what Zidane did was correct but the other guy probably deserved it.....we don't know what was said and if you look real close, Zidane was walking away from him and turned back to head butt him. That just begs the question, what did he say?

I think this head-butt will become his legacy more than his ability to play soccer, and rightfully so. What will probably be his last act as a professional soccer player is to receive a red card for violence. It was said that he has behaved this way before, so now he pays.

Regardless of the pressure and exhaustion that all the players felt at the end of the game, they are supposed to be professional and play soccer, not start fights. I am sure insults were tossed back and forth during the game. although ugly, they are just words - just words.

I think that what Zidane did was not very sportsmen like...but, I also think that the Italian player must have said something really mean to him that made him do it....

It doesn't matter what Materrazi said, Zidane was wrong and he should control himself

regardless of what was going on between the two. His responsibility is to the team. He is the Captain and the best player. Do they win with him still in? Who knows. He did have their last meaningful shot on goal in the last OT. He also is the best penalty kicker in the world and they lost by one.............

He was right. In sports, there should be no room for racism, or provocations of that sort. He should have knock the guy in the head, at least he would be out too.
