Just how low is the common denominator? Obviously this is but one example of the "dumbing down" (sic) of language.

How many of us even own a printed dictionary today? I wager not many do and further doubt many know what a thesaurus is.

BMF, I've got to say that not many people would have gotten my (sic) joke, much less turned around on me. I need to find my copy of Warriner's English Grammar and Composition.

OK, what happened to my "it"? I'm sure I left it here someplace!

I have a dictionary. A thesaurus is a book of synonyms and antonyms... cinnamons and anteaters.... I don't have one; not sure why, just never got around to buying one. You're right; that kind of stuff makes mee [sic]. But, uh, just calm down about the little stuff, and tackle the harder task of the impenetrable your/you're--they're/their/there chain of idiocy.

It's really infuriating how people write online these days. I'm glad there's someone even more anal about this than me.

Both are right. 'On Board' are two words that are in the dictionary and mean something when put together.
