It is possible to tell if they have stopped using heroin. The person will first go through cold turkey which is very unpleasant for them. After a time, their physical appearance will become much improved.
An addict will always be susceptible to relapse, its something they have to battle to one degree or another for the rest of their days. Unless a miracle occurs in their lives...and miracles do happen.

yeah its probably true, but only if they have replaced it with Methadone.
Once a heroin user - ALWAYS a heroin user. It passes through sperm and the placenta so a heroin users baby will grow up to seek out the drug and become an addict also, eventually.
THAT IS WHY WE NEED TO BE IN AFGHANISTAN AND RID THE WORLD OF IT. ONCE AND FOR ALL

Nope because each and everyone of those heroin addys are liars through and through.
If it meant going to rehab and all that then yes i may well believe them. Addicts dont know the difference between truth and lie-- emotion and love///

If they said that 5 minutes after stopping no I would not believe them. If they said it a year after stopping I would start to believe them. Saying you have stopped must mean for ever not just a pause for a few weeks.

I would not beleive a word that any heroin addict said, because they will say and do anything to get their fix and that includes stealing from family.

It depends. That is a very addicitve drug. I think that they could be telling the truth, but they would have had to go through a treatment program. I don't think somone could quit cold turkey...

I may believe them.
But they should not be exposed to serious treats and other psychological stress that will make them easily return back to their former habits.
