If you are in California or other states that medicinally prescribe marijuana, obtaining a prescription is possible. Marijuana can be perscribed for almost anything; Bipolar disorder(which is a make believe disease and everyone could be considered Bipolar), depression, aniexty, pain(back pain, wrist pain, bad joints, etc.), eating disorders, aids, cancer, tumors, etc., and that is most of them.
The point of using marijuana medicinally vs. recreationally is you are using the drug in a different mindstate. But almost any recreational drug can be used theraputically. For example, you can use marijuana if you burn your arm to stop the pain. You can use marijuana to escape reality. In both circumstances you smoked marijuana, but one is responsible and the other is a waste. You can use marijuana to calm yourself down or work through probelms you have, such as people see a psychologist to work through probelms.
Ecstasy is popularly known for recreation. The drugs real power is allowing the user to gain incite to personal probelms and to remove painful stereotypes and etc, they might have.
Try it with any recreational drug. Look deeper into what the drug can teach you. It is so funny that each drug can open your mind and show you so many things if you just realize that dimension of reality. Such as if you interpret the world as a loving place vs. a place of hatred and destruction. So much is how you percive reality.

Marijuana is prescribed only under certain conditions, and it is difficult to get even then. It's usually prescribed for people dealing with severe pain, like cancer patients... to help with dealing with the side effects that come with most chemotherapy treatments. People with glaucoma claim it has benefitted them as well and doctors will prescribe it for them in some instances. Other conditions that tend to generate pain and nausea sometimes benefit with marijuana...again, not as a treatment for the problem itself, but just as something to help alleviate symptoms.
Hope this helped.
