If by old you mean worn on the bottom, it is because your step has used more of one part of the shoe than others (everyone walks in a different manner and shoe wear varies in location based on this) and the material the shoes are made of is not durable enough to survive constant wear.

If by old you mean you got them three years ago, then that's time.

Because movement breaks down the fibers and because sweat further dissolves the material and stains the shoes. The mud and rain that you ran or walked in also washed away the color or stained the shoes.

Well, shoes age, just like we do. They are brand new when you buy them, then the longer you have them, the older they get.
