When two teams draw after 90 minutes, there used to be a rule that if one team scored in extra time, this would end the game. Nowadays, if one team score, the 30 minutes of extra time will still be played until the end.

The golden goal was the goal scored during extra time that would end the game right then and there. That doesn't happen anymore, the full extra time has to be played even if the score is 2-1.

I think it means that in overtime the first person to score a goal does not automatically win. It will still go into second over time no mater what. It's not like in baseball overtime where the first team to score wins. Does that make sense?
