for you to admit it was a serious mistake to base this serious issue on "penumbras" and "eminations"?

Please don't give me the "is a woman's choice" partyline, think for yourselves on this one. We are aborting 1.8 million babies, compared to 4.2 million live births.

eatmore, who the hell are you to determine for us what quality of life is? Should Stephen Hawkins have been aborted? The stories of babies born with abnormalaties and been able to live long periods of time and providing life-time experiences and positive changes to their families and communities are legendary. I guess only well fed, wine sipping, uppity Berkely white liberals should be allowed to live a life.

Real intelligent answers from the libs that tried to answer. I will not make fun of them - at least they tried.

MIxmaster - if they don't want children then why aren't they using protection. I mean come on - aren't condoms given out in public schools these days? Maybe sterilization would be a better choice than taking care of kids that immature people have.

Wow, I generally don't answer political questions because nothing I say will make any difference in the end but...

"LIBTARDS" - if that is the caliber of the average conservative mind.. then... well be grateful we are around to give you something to apply your energy toward.

Being pro-choice is NOT being pro-abortion, that is like saying that being for free speech is the same as being for the KKK, or the Nazi's it's just stupid. Being pro-choice is not a moral or an immoral decision it is an AMORAL decision. It carries the same moral weight as whether or not you want cream in your coffee.

Here is my position as a "liberal" (SHH don't tell anybody). I am a Catholic and I am AGAINST ABORTION!

However, I am not against choice, I believe it isn't the governments place to tell a woman what sort of medical procedures she can have. If that gives her undue control over the life of the child well... I didn't create the system and unless we are going to start growing children in jar's the system isn't gonna change period.

Doesn't matter if it is medical abortions when the zygote is still... well a zygote, or if it is surgical, or if it is coat hangers in a back alley, you ask yourselves which is worse?

Is it better to drive women who aren't ready or able to care for children for WHATEVER REASON to go to back alley places to have abortions in horrific and unsanitary conditions? or have a place where a person who you know went to school for you know medical stuff can handle the situation in a manner that is going to greatly enhance the chance of a woman surviving the procedure.

Which is the less of two evils, you people are so hung up on the people who COULD be here, that you are not giving a damn about the people who ARE here.

Yes, abortion in my view is not and should not be a form of retroactive birth control, it is wrong to do it for convenience. But this is a choice that should between the mother, the father and her god...

And it isn't our business what she ends up doing if you are not one of the three entities that I mentioned above.

Judge not, lest ye be judged no?

Besides, on a purely cold and calculated note... we are rapidly approaching our planets carrying capacity for our species. (for those of you who aren't familiar with this idea, it is the physical limit by which the planet can support more humans).

And when we hit that limit, we can only do two things, control our birth rate, and control our death rate, so it may come down in a very real macro-enviromental sort of way of more birth control or more wars... there you go you pick.

PS. Pointing out liberal stereotypes is weak... it is intellectually weak, and if you engage in that sort of thing then your weak too.

So, just to be sure I understand.

It is a party line, and people aren't thinking for themselves, if it is not agreeing with you?

Let me start by saying, I would never abort a baby of my own. I have a 2 year old son I love with every ounce of my being.

That being said, I do not think every 2 year old child has someone that loves them with every ounce of their being. Overpopulation of the world is a huge problem, and not one that should be taken lightly. The average birth-rate in some African countries is 8 children to a family. That type of overpopulation will just crush the entire population and cause more suffering than you could imagine. In a lot of cases, religious beliefs do not allow any type of birth control. When is religion going to find a proper median? Human nature dictates you cannot have it both ways.

I can't believe a victim of rape should be forced to carry a child for 9 months and then give it away. The attachment to that child will be born of anger and hate. You then have one more child, born of anger and hate, put into the system that doesn't care about those children.

Humans, and I believe dolphins, are the only animals in the world that have sex for pleasure. That is something that will NEVER change, so there will be concessions. Sometimes those concessions will be horrific.

There are a lot of logical reasons to consider abortion, however the real problem is determining when it is an act of abortion or an act of murder.

NONE of this is a fetus's or child's fault. NOT ONE BIT OF IT. However, this world isn't their fault either and we would be forcing them into a world where they were unwanted. In some cases, unwanted leads to abuse, which begets abuse. In best case scenerios, it leads to adoption, which can bring thoughts of abandonment and being unwanted to the child. However, you may be able to find a way to make abortion illegal, but you won't be able to force the mother of that child to give it away. Unfortunately, you don't need a license to be a parent.

Well, I apologize if you feel this is the "party line", but that is my .02.

I am not liberal, nor am I conservative. I *do* think for myself.

How much longer do we have to put up with your war on common sense? Normal,well-adjusted people do not obsess over the fact that in nature sometime females kill their own.Quit voting for Republican policies that take food out of small children's mouths and get a life.

And yes,it IS a woman's choice.

Overpopulation? The finite resources on this planet aren't going to sustain the growth rate humanity is experiencing..
Will the pro-lifers adopt EVERY unwanted child? What about children born with defects leading to a very short/very painful life?

As long as women get pregnant. Why don't you figure out a way to make a law that doesn't unfairly target women, and then we will talk. Until then, I choose what's best for me, not you, or anyone else. It isn't a political forum, it is a woman.

Abortion will be the liberal's undoing. Since libs are the only ones aborting they aborting their own future voters. Eventually there will be no more libs left in America!

Which war on babies are you referring to?

The one where Bush has all but ignored the three million who die in Africa year year through starvation and despise?

The one where thousands and thousands have been killed in air and ground attacks simply because they might or might not have lived in the same area where insurgents might or might not have been hiding?
