I'm a chemistry teacher so I'll throw something at you that you would never expect.
The smell of orange blossoms is due to the dilute presense of two chemicals, indole and skatole. In fact these two fragrances are used in a lot of perfumes.
Skatole is the Greek word for "s h i t". So you might not be surprised to then learn that indole and skatole are also the two chemicals that, in concentration, are responsible for the smell of s h i t.
It is amazing what concentrating a chemical will do!
My high school students enjoy learning about this because teens love to be grossed out. Gives them something to say "eeuu!" about. LOL.

I spent the last week with my snobby sister in law. The funniest thing she said all week was "My kids will never get head lice because they are not dirty." Don't you know, My brother came over this morning to inform me that their kids have head lice!
