An Independence Day is an annual celebration commemorating the anniversary of a nation's assumption of independent statehood, usually after ceasing to be a colony or part of another state. Most countries honour their respective independence day as a national holiday.

For Americans it involved the transplanted Brits, getting free from domination by England's Royal Kings, who were taking too much money through taxes.George Washington left England due to high taxes, then in America the war with England started over England taxing the English colonies too much for tea-which lead to the war for independance from England, and the victory on July 7th 1776.

India gained independence from the "Raj" British rule and became an independent country, run by its own leaders. That's history, now India is run by so called politicians, whose basic qualification is to be a criminal! Ofcourse there exceptions like the present PM Manmohan Singh, who is above all the dirty politics. God save India!!
