Yes. When you first go on it you usually have to get one. Then once a year after that as long as you are on it and a pelvic exam twice a year. But if you are sexually active you should be getting routine exams anyway.

So 100% yes, you should have a pap smear and pelvic exam when you get put on birth control, and you should plan to have one every year for screening.
