I work in a bank okay? but soon to be made redundant. There's real money in plumbing although I'd obviousy have to retrain but Ashley says she doesn't think she could go out with a plumber. I'm still the same person, right? Just because I might swap my calculator for a wrench and my suit for overalls. My mates say go for it, you'll get a better class of g/f. What say you?

If your g/f says she won't go out with you anymore because of your job, then she's very shallow. Dump her and get the job you want. Then find a nice girl who will love you for who you are, not the job that you do.

Your profession doesn't make who you are. You are still the same person!You even have my respect because you are brave enough to act when a difficulty arises. You just fight it and get thought the rough times instead of staying home crying about how life is unfair.
Most people would stay home waiting for the ideal job instead of getting on and make a loss their personal winning chance.
If she can't see that, she isn't good enough for you.
Your friends are right, and good for you for not giving up when problems appear!
Her loss, you'll see there's plenty women out there who will appreciate you whatever job you might have.

plumbers make damn good money and it a good trade. People will always need them. Your girlfriend sounds like she is only with you for your status and not for who you are.
