Can anyone tell me how to get the black stuff from candle smoke off glass candleholders? I've tried soaking them in hot soapy water and I've tried Windex, but nothing seems to be working.

The reason your candle holders are black is because they were exposed to moisture. Do not add any water.

I clean silver with silver polish, but when I don't have any I use baking soda toothpaste. Use a soft bristle old toothbrush and a clean old hand towel (terry cloth) to wipe it clean.

Craft stores and discounters sell an excellent product called Candle wax remover by goo be gone. It not only removes the wax, but also the black smoke. I use soft terry cloths that I can throw away on crystal and brass holders in order not to scratch the surface. It is smelly stuff though.
