They are both VERY reliable. However, here's the BIG difference. Corollas have very soft suspensions. They ride like a Buick, and don;t handle very well. But if you like a nice soft ride, the Toyota is for you. On the other hand, Hondas handle MUCH better than Toyotas, so I prefer the Civic. Also the Civic gets a little better gas mileage, and I think the styling is better.

Hi, I have had a Toyotal Corolla (2002) bought new in 2001 - I have had NO trouble with this car the entire time - All I do is change the oil and drive - The fit and finish is excellent, the car is smooth and quiet. I had one minor defect with one tire 4 years ago - (The steel belt slipped in the tire giving me a "thumping sound) but Toyota replaced this at no charge - I now have 100,000 KM on the car - you cannot go wrong with a Toyota - (It is also slightly cheaper than a Civic)
Good luck in your decision!

I would have to say both are better than average for small cars. They are both very reliable. In my opinion, the Corolla drives better. They ride better, do less hunting for the proper gear with the automatic, and have a stronger feeling motor. Corolla is also cheaper on car insurance. Not quite as good on gas as a Civic though. Overall, you'd probably save money with the cheaper insurance on the Corolla even though it eats more gas.
