Anyone who is interested in getting a turtle should do proper research. It is ridiculous how many people get turtles for pets and don't know the proper set up and care for a turtle. If you have access to this to read and ask questions, then you have the ability to type something into google and get some answers. PLEASE do your research before you take on such a challenge.

I know this from experience.

AND, whoever wrote that last part is SO correct. You may think you're a hot shot at 11 with 7 turtles, that probably have some illnesses, but you just got told. And that's the truth. How did they put that answer under hers tho?

i may be 11 but i know how to take care of a turtle. i have 7 baby turtles and 2 ten gallon tanks. iv had my turtles for 4 years and theyve done fine. i agree with you but why did you ask-i have a turtle question- if it wasent a question at all it was a statement. but i dont think turtles are a challenge

I hate to tell you this but 7 baby turtles in two ten gallon tanks is not a proper set up. It should be 10 gallons per inch of turtle..so considering that you have 7 baby turtles and let's say they are two inches long you need a 140 gallon tank. Plus think of the terroritory problems you may be creating!! And if you have had your turtles for four years..they shouldn't be babies anymore. They should actually be around four inches each now..soooo yeah you've really got them all in a tight space, especially in two ten gallon tanks. So you really honestly need to do your research for the health of your turtles. They should be big enough enough to tell if they are male and female and since you probably have them together it is possible that they can mate now, so therefore you may be having a lot of eggs on your hands. Also since some may be females, do you have a land area properly set up so that the female turtles can lay their eggs?? They don't need a mate to lay eggs, though the eggs will not produce baby turtles..so therefore you still need a proper land setup for the turtle to go into to lay her eggs. You really honestly need to do some researching as you are not keeping your turtles in proper conditions.

I am really surprised . We have been keeping turtle inthe villages for generations as they helped clear the water in the domestics wells ,tanks and storages. We were never particular beyond ensuring that it is a turtle. They hardly need any upkeep though occasionally we would drop groundnuts etc.in it but not much lest they decompose and dirty the water. The turtlels also fed on small fish in water. Even if we did take it out oocasionally to show them to children and visitors from cities there was no problem in looking after them. They know how to protect themselves from troublemakers and predatory animals withdrawing within themselves in their unbreakable backs They could also lie down in a corner of the house for quite some time.As this much awareness was adequate for us we did not think of going through treatises on tortoises. As we had no problems with the turtles we also never thought of asking questions about them.

Doing "proper research" involves asking questions and seeking answers from a variety of resources - does it not? Now, exactly what was your question?
