Yes, I worked for audi/vw for 20 years, common problems to watch for are; window regulator cables break, recall on some fuel sending units, center door between seats breaks from elbow hitting it, instrument cluster and radio display some LED display lines go out and you have to buy the cluster or radio which ever is messing up. can get expensive. and mostly change the oil at least every 5000 miles especially on turbo model, engine will gum up and cause lots of headaches if you don't. USE SYNTHETIC OIL OR YOU WILL REGRET IT LATER.

I own a 2004 TT 3.2 Coupe w/ S-Line Package and I love it...
If you like, there is a great article about buying a used TT in the August 2006 issue of Road & Track Magazine. It is called "Used Car Classic: Audi TT" and is on page 115.

Absolutely. I've had a used TT for2 years now and she's been the best. Research edmunds and kelly blue book to see the actual prices. I'm assuming that you'll buy it directly from an owner on a website like Craigs list (that how I got my TT). buying a car directly from an owenr saves you atleast a couple of grand that a dealer would pad on as part of his margin. Make sure you get a good meachnic to check out the TT you have in consideration as the electricals of Audi cars have a nasty habit of screwing up. Good luck with your purchase - A TT is one of the best cars to own and I'm sure if you get one, it'll give you tremendous joy!

jeffgcz is exactly right. I owned an A4 1.8T Quattro and didn't realize my shop was using a synthetic blend and not full synthetic (never had to use synthetic oil before). My oil pan gummed up and almost ruined my main engine bearing... and I was changing the oil about every 4000 miles. Besides that, I had a lot of other issues. They are beautiful vehicles however personally, the only way I would buy another Audi is if I was leasing it brand new. Audi even cover maintenance for 36k miles. After 100k miles you will be spending some good money on repais and maintenance.

If I were you, I would check the Consumer Reports used car buying guide for the model year TT you want. Audi's are gorgeous cars, but they are not know to be especially reliable. Also there isn't much room in the TT. I bought a Mazda Miata, and I think it's a much better sports car (handles MUCH better), and is very reliable. Also, I get about 30mpg :-)
Good Luck.

An audi tt is an awesome car. You should definitely get one. The good thing about them is that they are not very expensive, used or new.

WRX & Lancer may lack in the refined luxury department compared to the TT, but the maintenance, reliability will cost less over the long run. Unless you are truly making over 100grand a year, twin-sequential turbos on top of a 5valve 4 wheel drive quattro is expensive to fix.
