170 litres means 170,000 cm cubed
a cubic space would be about 55ca on all sides-less than 2 feet?
your boot could be 3ft by 2ft by 1ft,about 180 litres - seems small.

a boot should be 5ft by 2ft by 2ft at least 600 litres.
u sure thats right?
maybe the specs refer to useful storage space ONLY
and ignore corners, wheel arches etc.

170 litres = 170,000 mm cubed, or 1,700 cm cubed.

Since this refers to 3 dimensions, you need to know 2 of the dimensions to find out the third (ie: you need to know the length and the width to find out the height, or you need to know the height and the length to find out the width).

Other than that, look it up on the car's spec sheet.
