You use both sides of the paper instead of just one.

So, you use less paper, which saves you money.

if you are thinking of purchasing a duplex printer it is one which can automatically turn your paper over and print both sides. usually expensive lasers. it saves you time printing page 1, turning and loading it into the paper tray and printing page 2 etc.... hope i didnt confuse u 2 much lol.
