Sadly, I think $2.00 gas is a thing of the past. It will just keep going up.

Yes, with supply and demand it is possible. A world wide recession could easily cause retail gas prices to plumet. A lessing of demand from Americans, Chinese, Europe would help. An increase in refineries will help to bring more supply to the market. A rich vein of oil could be found in the United States.
Finally, an end to global problems with current wars, North Korea, etc.

Gas will never be back to $2.00/gal. There is way too much demand in the world today. China and India are catching up to the U.S. in consumption as their economies boom. The days of cheap gas are over, unfortunately.

It will never be that low again, and if by some fluke it is, the governments will tax the heck out of it so it goes back up. It is finally back down under $3/gal here..
