Are there any free public record databases besides the phone book?

I don't know of any free services but check www.melissadata.com they are an excellent web-site and I use them for business purposes.

The only other way is to contact the post office. they will provide you with a current address, if available. this info is based on the freedom of information act. you can find this info on the usps web site as well.

I believe the Salvation Army do this for free.

go to www.lds.org, click on geneology, and follow the links. its free and fully functanal. ive pushed my geneology back to the 15th century, ad.
