you can start today and lose 1-3 lbs a week. If you have any health or physical issues, check with your doctor first.

1)Modify your calorie intake.
2)Eat foods that increase your metabolism. Drink plenty of water as this helps get your metabolism in gear.
3)Eat balanced meals, regular meals. Yes, you can still have your favorite foods, but do so in moderation and in small quantities. (i.e. a spoon of Hagen Daaz, instead of the pint.)
4)Excercise...cardio AND weight training. Also try yoga and pilates to increase flexibility and elongate your body.
5)If you're trying to bulk up, get extra protein in your diet and look into protein shakes.
6)Enjoy life!

There is no quick fix. These are life changes.

I don't know just how much you want to lose, but I can tell you how to lose some and at least get started. This is the program I devised and lost over 100 pounds in about a year. It has received approval from two doctors, one of whom is a cardiologist.

First, go fresh. Shop the "horseshoe" of the grocery store: fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh meats, fresh dairy. Venture into the aisles for brown rice and whole wheat pasta.

Stay away from processed foods. This includes canned foods and even some frozen (you have to read the label. If they have too much junk, are high in fat, sugar, or sodium, put it back on the shelf).

Drink plenty of water, stay away from sodas, including diet sodas.

Now, this is EXACTLY what I did and I lost the weight and kept it off. It has been three years.

Eat 5-6 small meals a day. This would be three meals and 2-3 snacks. It is also a good idea to follow the food pyramid while doing this so you have a guideline of how much of "the good stuff" you should be eating. You would likely be surprised to learn that you probably are not getting anywhere near the fruits, vegetables, and dairy that you should.

Limit your fat grams to 10g per meal. That equals to about 50-60 grams of fat a day. Your body needs fat for various things such as cushioning your organs and keeping your skin supple. Don't do completely away with it, just cut it a little.

Limit your sugar to 12 grams per meal. This is the biggie. Most folks do not realize that the reason they are not losing the weight even though they watch calories and fat is because they ignore sugar. Sugar is a sly little devil. The body processes what it can - and what it can not process gets turned to fat.

Read your labels. Just because it says "low fat" or "diet" does not mean that it doesn' have 500,000 grams of sugar.

Exercise. Just walking a few times a week will help. Walk, ride a bike, dance around the house in your underwear, anything to get your heart pumping and keep it pumping for a minimum of 18 minutes.

Good luck, take care of yourself. Talk to a doctor about whatever you decide to do before you take the plunge.
I wish you the very best of luck. I feels great to lose the weight. I know you will feel wonderful!

Oh, and did I mention, DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!!!

Yes, I lost 35 lbs in 6 weeks. Eat 6 ''small'' meals a day (every 3 hours) every other meal shouldn't have carbs. drink 100 ounces of water a day...( it's difficult but nessisary), walk an hour a day. Ive lost a total of 120 lbs in less than a year. If you want to know more check out the Michael Thurmonds 6 week body make over. But here's an example of what I have for meals.... Meal #1- 2 egg whites, and a cup of oatmeal, no milk or sugar. I get the Quaker oat weight controll banana flavor. Big glass of water
Meal #2- 3oz can tuna or 3oz of meat with a cup of green beans. Big glass of crystal light or water.
Meal #3 - 2 oz of chicken, small baked potatoe, can of green beans, water water water.
Meal #4- 1oz of chicken and a small banana or strawberries, and of course water.
Meal #5- 2oz of fish or chicken small potatoe and a can of green beans or spinach, diet soda or water.
Meal #6- 2 oz of meat and a half cup of mixed berries. Then wash it all down with WATER.
Do not use the following... salt, oil, sugar, dairy. You can use a sugar and salt substitute. Diet soda is ok if you have one a day, you can drink flavored soda water, crystal light, but nothing with sugar. And make sure you walk at least an hour a day, just enough to make you break a sweat. Hope this helps you.
