2nd division's up now! Who do you think will win the NFC north and possibly wild card?

I'm running my own broke crappy version of Sports Center. Group consensus team will move on and eventually we'll do playoffs and superbowl. Ten points gets awarded to the person who best makes their case for the team they picked.

Chicago will take the NFC North this year.

Offense: Griese on the team gives Chicago a veteran QB who knows how to win games. Grossman, if he stays healthy, has also shown that defenses have to double their efforts to beat him (Carolina barely got by Chicago in the playoffs 29-21). Jones and Benson will supply a hard-hitting and bone crushing run game with Adrain Peterson as a strong change of pace back that defenses have to account for. Muhsin Muhammad, with the presence of a veteran QB, will look to return to form this season, and with Mark Bradley, Bernard Berrian, and Airese Currie, this WR corp could become one of the league's overall fastest units. The O-line is anchored by a vicious Olin Kretuz and remains an unrespected yet unrelenting starting line.

Defense: Everyone is returning and additions from the draft means one thing: the defense will wreak havoc on opposing offenses. Adding Ricky Manning Jr. to the secondary will give this unit a stronger presence and make QBs more weary to throw down the field. Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, and Hunter Hillenmeyer will lock down the middle of the field while the D-Line with Alex Brown, Adewale Ogunleye, Ian Scott, and Tommie Harris will stuff the rushing game down other teams' throats.

ST: Hester looks to make himself one of the NFL's feared returners this season and has the capability to do so. He has the looks of Dante Hall on the field, but is a little bit bigger, so he can absorb some punishing shots when he gets hit. Picking up Alex Bannister from the Seahawks also upgrades this unit's game, since his skills on that team were clearly seen by their overall impressive return game. Robbie Gould is looking to build up his experience booting the pigskin through the uprights, and will more than likely be given more chances to prove that his leg is a cannon.

The other three teams are stil questionable in too many areas to be considered as NFC Champions, nor has any of their defenses been able to measure up. Chicago will take the NFC North and even repeat a first-round BYE in the playoffs.

Winner of the NFC North is the Chicago Bears. They will still have the same smothering defense that they had last year, and now they have a veteran QB in Brian Griese. Even if Griese doesn't win the starting job, he can mentor the younger QB's, and I think that is worth at least another 7-13 points a game. So they should average around 20 a game, while only giving up 7-10. Rest of this division is still rebuilding because of being young and inexperienced, or new coaching. I honestly think Detroit may actually have the 2nd best team in the North. Martz is a heck of an offensive guru.

Da Bears take the division as they have no other competition. They have an amazing defence with a below average offence, but they will sweep their division rivals earning a playoff spot.

Detroit finishes second led by a trio of very good receivers, a good running back and a serviceable quaterback. However, their defence has too many holes and they will struggle late in the game to hold onto any leads they may have. A couple of lucky turnovers could enable them to make the playoffs, but I predict that they do not earn a wild card spot.

Green Bay bounces back to .500 this year and Favre retires. With a lackluster o-line and no defence, they aren't going anywhere fast.

Minnesota starts the rebuilding process this year and has holes at every position. They will struggle this year, get some good draft picks and be competitive by the 2008 season.

The NFC North is the Bears division to win. Detroit has no offense, or defense . Minnesota just plain sucks without randy moss and daunte culpepper. To top it off, Green bay has no offense what-so-ever and only a bit of a defense. And yes, Chicago has barely an offense but at least they have one of the, if not, the best defense.

Packers win it this year. they had the #1 pass defense last year and they're gonna be better against the run this year with the addition of a.j. hawk. this year they wont have to resort to their 5th string running back, and favre is gonna be able to play like he used to with a healthy offense and more experienced receivers. the inside of their o-line is young, but this year they'll be consistent as to who plays what position in training camp and throughout the season, whereas last year, mike sherman couldnt make up his mind and do the same thing twice. and for the other teams: chicago has no offense, detroit is detroit like everybody else has said, and i think the vikings are learning the west coast offense and i dont think theyll make the change to well. heres how i think itll end up:

Packers: 11-5
Bears:9-7
Vikings:8-8
Lions:6-10

Chicago, hands down, and here's why.

1st - same Defence that won the division last year

2nd - new head coaches (new to the team, and new to head coaching) in Detroit, Minneapolis, and Green Bay.

3rd - Won last year with Kyle Orton, now they have Grossman and Griese

4th - The only team with a decent QB is Green Bay, and they don't have the team to support Favre, or the O-Line to protect him from a crushing Bears D.

NFC North

1. Chicago Bears-Their DEF is the best in the NFL and it will carry them all season
2. Minnesota Vikings-Made a couple good offseason acquisitions and they have good players in skill positions.
3. Detroit Lions-Rod Marinelli and Mike Martz are gonna make all the defense in the world (They will win this division next year!!!)
4. Green Bay Packers-Sorry Brett you are one of my favorite players to watch but your team sucks. RB sucks, no WR's and your OL is sub par. just not very good
