Either a biofiltration or sand filtration system, requires a pump and some space though.

Yellow color could be caused by a lot of different minerals in the ground but the most common is IRON. Sometimes other elements and compounds are present that might confuse people so a water analysis is the safetest way to go. Sulfur is commonly found in water that also contains iron.
The sulfur is yellow in its elemental form, but in water it is usually present in the form of Hydrogen Sulfide, and not in its elemental form. H2S is a poisonous gas that smells like rotten eggs. But if the water runs for a long time you might observe the disolved sulfur precipitate out as white amorphous sulfur. Looks like long trails of white algae.
You could use a water softener for the water you drink to get rid of the iron and sulfur. It would probably be too expensive to do it for the your landscape water or taking a shower. There are chemicals you can buy at Lowes, Ace, or Home Depot that would remove the iron stains from your bathroom fixtures.

sorry but you need to be a little more specific. have it tested and find out why it is yellow. in this area many people think they have sulfur water but when tested it is iron salts so if one was to try and get rid of the sulfurous smell they would be going down the wrong pope. knowing it is iron salts then will let you make a informed decision which I know is unAmerican, but it will ultimately be cheaper than hit and miss.

well you're gonna have to filter it. the yellow color might come from sulfur which you don't wanna drink (won't hurt you that much but smells funny).
