What do you think of Zidane's aggression against Matterazzi?

I think that the real problem here is with Materazzi, not with Zidane. Zidane has had this edgy streak in him ever since he has been a child. In his younger years whilst at Juventus he was known to be a man not to be trifled with. Sure, he has grown a lot and with a sense of his rersponsibility to the game he has mellowed significantly, but push him too far and that young hot-head will return, as we witnessed yesterday.

The only thing that would have provoked Zizou to react in that way would have been a comment about his mother. A racist comment, in my opinion, would not turn him to violence.

Materazzi needs to be questioned and perhaps disciplined by FIFA for his comments, whatever they were, there is no room for provocation in the game of football. Sure, perhaps Zidane should have waited until after the match, then did whatever he had to do, but in the heat of the moment you do crazy things.

At the end of the day, Zidane will always be the greatest player of my generation and perhaps ranks alongside Pele and Maradonna as the greatest of all time, headbutt or no headbutt.

Pretty darn silly - whatever was said between the two - nothing and i mean NOTHING can justify that behaviour of Zidane. He is a great player and will be missed, but sheesh.. did he have to do that, at that time on international TV? He got red carded, and that was the right thing to do from the referees.

I think he has no excuse for his actions a player of his greatness should be above those types of actions. Zidane is no young player and should have kept his cool on the field instead of leaving the field like one of the greats the last memory of him fans will have is the head butt, inexcusable.

i believe that matterazzi called zidane a dirty arab...zidane is only half algerian...and as an arab i can say that if anyone calls me a dirty arab i will stick up for my ethnicity...he shouldn't have attacked him like that ...but when your under pressure you do a lot of stupid things without thinking about it. another sad thing is zidane used to play with italains...so how could u insult your former teammate to that extent?...it all wasn't supposed to happen...france could of won

Oh give me a break, all who are saying Marco was saying something racial, Zizou has proably heard worse walking in Paris.You don't think Marco gets racial things said to him being Italian, as you can see by a lot of people saying Italians are dirty, mob paid off games, etc. It's sport and Soccer is brutal, if you can't take it, get a job washing cars even then you'll probaly get some grief too.

It was a stupid reaction but if materazzi did in fact insultZidane with a racist remark then he deserves to be banned. heard he called zidane a terrorist or something like that
