In other words, does a "dual channel capable mother board" have anything to do with DDR or DDR2 memory?

Is DDR2 memory the only way to go if you're into video editing?

I'll be using Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 to capture, edit, and burn DVD's from my old family VHS and 8mm tapes.

Dual Channel capable motherboards were design to allow data transfre in memory to flow faster than ordinary ones.

Think of this, you're at a grocery store and only one checkout line is at work, and there's 10 people in line. Wouldn't it be faster if there were 2 checkout lines helping the customers? This is the same concept with Dual Channel memory.

Let's differentiate between dual-channel memory controller designs and the dual-data-rate (DDR) memory that many of them use. The acronym DDR refers to RAM that transfers data on both the rising and falling edges of each clock cycle, thereby turning 133MHz SDRAM into 266MHz DDR SDRAM. A dual-channel DDR controller implements two separate memory channels, each compatible with DDR memory. One is a memory design and the other is a chipset design.

To simply answer your question, DDR2 works best with graphic design and video editing.

DDR2 is the newest standard but is only available for intel processor based systems so AMD does not support it yet, to get dual channel (with DDR2) you need a matched set of ram in the first and third slot, (not possible with DDR) when i did baseline tests and comparisons i have 2 X 1 gb of ddr2 667mhz you will get better performance with 4 X 512mb filling all 4 slots, but that is just what the numbers say, I have really good performance but I also use a western digital Raptor, the hdd is an often overlooked performance part in a computer

it signifies that ram has 2 GB of area, that makes use of two channels co talk with the mainboard and DDR potential a spread of memory(DDR is extremely sluggish memory,i propose employing DDR2 memory because computer can in ordinary words use 512 MB if employing a DDR memory so something else memory is going to waste)

nope, DDR and DDR2 is a type of memory, it has nothing to do with dual channel cpapble motherboards.
Dual channel just means, if you have 2 sticks of the same RAM, it runs better than just 1 or 3
DDR2 is accually the worse of the 2 types of memroy, to me ofcourse
BUT if you use Intel, you have no choice but to get DDR2
the older AMDs use DDR
but the new AM2s use DDR2
