1.The Killing of Franz Ferdinand by the Black Hand specifically Gavrilo Princip 2.Imperialism through out europe . everyone wanted to expand their countries for wealth. 3.Lusitania: a british liner that was sunk by the Germans and in it were 124 americans on board. That was the cause of our entrance along with reason #4. 4.Zimmerman note:Pthe germans tell Mexico if they help them they will help mexico get their land back(the southwest territory). Mexico refused.

While there are some enlightened answers stated before this one that are very accurate, they all miss the main reason. Terrorism. It is the reason the other events that led to the war happened. And like now the governments of that time were arrogant and bullish, trying to make others believe as they did.

Reason is:
killing of Princ Ferdinand Austrin princ by Gavrilo Princip (bosnian fighter for rights). So austria use this murder like reason to atack Serbia by accusation that Sebria order this murder.
after day Russia supported Serbia. then other day Germany supported Austria, Also France and G. Britain join Serbia and Russia... and war begin
