This is quite a difficult question to answer because you have not stated exactly why you have to forget this person, but I will try and help you if I can.
What I think you need to do is find something that will take your mind away from this source of problem. I can only assume that it is a relationship issue, however the answer for this is time. You simply cant forget overnight someone or something but what you can do is maintain a regular routine, psychologically throw in something new and interesting, this can be taking up lessons or socialising in new bars for example, by maintaing a regular routine you are keeping busy and by including a new interesting hobby or pastime you will find you will have moved on from this individual who you feel you want to forget. The sad reality is that you will never forget this person but you will find that you will get over the feeling of emptyness.
I had a similar situation last year with my girlfriend of 4 years, it took me months to get over her, but I started to socialise a bit more than usual and I found I got over the loss of our relationship.
I hope this helps

Just remember that our memory keeps too many bad things sometimes. Or not as bad taken separately, but not healthy for us. Really good people will never behave so that you will have to make efforts to forget them. And you have to accept that not all are as good and pure as you are. They are worth to be forgotten. That is all. Time and work are not healers. As well as replacement of whisky with vodka for someone dependent on alcohol. Best healer is a realistic evaluation of things, which happen with you.

You must accept that you like that someone and make peace with it, especially with yourself.
I'm sure you took the right decision.
Time heals all wounds but first grief a while.
Cry if you must but be strong in the end.
Best of luck to you.

Make yourself very busy. Concentrate on all their lousy qualities. Write them a letter and then burn it. It's not easy and you never believe that time is a great healer, but it is. Good luck.
