I need a trick to remove the magneto so I can change the points. I have tried a gear puller but the magneto is stuck tight. I have sprayed it several times with WD-40. It does have a keyway on the shaft, is it possible this is the problem? This should have been a simple thing, but now hours later I have gotten nowhere...Help!

If the puller doesnt work cold, DONT heat it up. you need to remove engine and freeze it overrnight. then refit puller and pour boiling water over flywheel. This has NEVER failed to remove flywheel without damage (but it is time consuming)

Are you using the proper puller or a jaw puller. A jaw puller will cause the flywheel to flex and tighten itself to the crankshaft. If you're using the proper puller, tighten it as much as possible without causing any damage and slam it with a metal hammer. The shock will either pop the flywheel off or loosen it enough for you to tighten the puller again and repeat the process. Contact me if you need to locate the proper puller.
