Economics is the study of scarce resources. What will we do with what we have, should we make guns or butter?
With more people competing for those resources, the value for them increases and so does the competition.
This means that things will get more expensive, and there will be greater competition for what is already there.
For instance:
Education: Colleges will have to restrict admittance because there will not be enough places for new freshman to be admitted to their campus.
Land: Only a limited source, therefore expect an increase in prices.
Look at China, their population growth forced dramatic steps in the number of babies a couple can have, one. Because a lot want sons the daughters are not wanted or desired.
As populations increase, people will need to compete for goods and services, those that put themselves into positions to compete by getting an education will be better off than those that do not.
That is why it is so important for young people starting High School or entering High School to start thinking about how they will get an education that allows them to compete in this changing economic conditions.
