iam pretty sure it would start out with the world against north korea, although china at one point was interested in north korea, as was russia. There is possibility that they might form together for the purpose of distroying all democracy once and for all.
all things considered, thats the only way north korea would even have a fighting chance. theyre pretty much sitting ducks. They dont have much navy force, nor do they have any airforce to consider. they have a huuuge army, and the worlds second largest special forces army, but they have no way to transport them anywhere. Their ONLY hope is a war on their own land, or war with countries close enough to be hit by their long range missles. that in itself is madness, but so is their leader.
Its highly unlikely that this will result in a full blown war. a fight, or a scuffle, cold war, or long distance dispute is more likely.

Let's see, the short list would include, Japan, France, Italy, UK, Canada, Russia, Germany... most of Europe, South Korea (they're right there so that's kind of obvious). I'm not saying that all the countries would supply troops but a good deal of them would and the others would play supporting roles. I'm on the fence as to whether or not China would play a role or not (though I don't think they want a nuclear war on their hands).

Good question. That's just one of those things that forms when wars start. It starts out just being 2 countries, but the other "allies" get dragged in it when they are forced to be involved. I think the big allies would be US, Japan and South Korea. the UK will be there for emotional support, and Russia will say they're on our side, but they're sketchy sometimes.
Update: drumrchick: lol we have bombs though..

Japan, S. Korea, Australia, Britain, maybe even the rest of Europe. It really depends on how bad they threaten everyone around them. Most of their technology is dated and they will likely face massive equipment failures. They have the numbers in terms of personnel but they do not have food or other logistics to support them. If it ever got down to a real shooting war, it would be a nightmare and loss of life would be huge but ultimately N. Korea can't go it alone.

Obvously South Korea and Japan would be the key allies plus other assorted countries like ASEAN. Russia and China would probably take a back seat.

No one except maybe Britain, we'd end up cleaning up the mess while the rest of the world sits back and watches, as usual.

Most of Europe, maybe Russia. Not China. And therein lies the problem. They have more soldiers than we have bullets...
