Because you have to lable everyone something.

I just use the term "homosexual".

That way no one is offended because its true.

Its demeaning to be called ****** to people. Its simply unorthadox and rude to walk by and go "what a fag"...

There are just several words for the same thing and different people prefer different words. The f-word you referred to is particularly offensive because it has its origins in the burning of gay men at the stake. F***** originally meant a bundle of sticks such as that used for lighting a fire. It is acceptable to call a lesbian a gay woman and vice versa.

The word ***** is to harsh and they can't handle what they really are. So they find a word that they think makes them sound nicer.

The word lesbian was derived from the name of the island of Lesbos. This island was known as having a society comprised completely of women.

Because if you said gay for both, it would get confusing. If you said "there gay" lesbian lets u differentiate between boy and girl.
