I am quite impressed that you are only 11 years old and are interested in making a little money of your own. Good for you. Now as a mother of a 10 year old, I would have to say "NO" you are not old enough to watch over toddler sized children. I say this because though you may be mature for your age you may not be able to handle a difficult situation if one may occur. Some grown-ups even have trouble with making the right decisions sometimes and I know it would be difficult for a child.

If I were your mother and you wanted to make some money baby sitting, I would allow you to only if you baby sat at our residence so that I may be of help if you needed me... But I definitely would respect the fact that you wanted to be a big girl and do some things on your own.

My daughter ALWAYS have some type of adult supervision. Either she is in day school, day care, with me or with mother. Don't be too quick to think that you are ready to make grown-up decisions on your own. Stay reaching for challenges (making your own money) but remember....you are only11.

Good Luck

I am a mom of an 8 yr old. I would not leave my daughter with anyone unless they were 14 or 15. I think if you are in eighth grade and your mom or a neighbor is close by in case of an emergency then your old enough to babysit. what would happen if you were babysitting the kids down the street and one of them.... disappeared. what would you do if you couldn't get a hold of their parent? call the police... then what... Do you know that in many states if that child in your care was hurt badly or even died while in your care your parents, possible even you could go to jail for 3-5 years or more depending on the circumstances. Don't jump into babysitting until you are ready. Staying at home with your siblings is one thing but other peoples children..... Is not something you want to do until you can handle it... I know I would hate to put my parents in jail for something stupid I did,

I feel that is too young,14 is an acceptable age.my 11 year old is capable of looking after a toddler,if supervised by an adult.
