...to pick a decent leader? I cling to the hope that the election was somehow rigged and that 51% of the people who actually took the time to vote did not vote für George.

If the people of our land would vote for a man who is poor in math, ex. thought lowering taxes and raising spending would balance the budget... Has little understanding of modern science, and is a terrible public speaker, I mean the guy doesn't understand English grammar, which is ok by me, as long as you're not an English teacher or President. I could go on and on, but I would like to know what your thoughts are.

I can't wait for the next election. We really need to start kicking out all the old conservatives in office and putting in people who will do the job right. There's so much strife it's impossible to decide on simple issues, and it's a Catch 22 with complex ones.

I'm glad I'll be 18 in September so when the congressional elections come around I'll vote for non-Republicans (for the most part) so our country can start sucking less politically.

America as a nation is the land of the free, anyone has freedom of religion meaning you can be of any faith you want to be, and freedom of speech where no one is going to bang your door down because you are insulting the president of the U.S. or anybody for that matter. Hope for America, rest assured that we have that and more, why do people from other countries want to come to America, because they are stupid, or they see us as a country that is better than the rest of the other countries. I will always will be defending our country which happens to be the good old U.S. of A. because we, as Americans, should be standing united no matter what.

I think there is still hope for America, at least I hope so. Even those die hard republicans couldn't possibly vote for an idiot like Bush again. The American public is to blame for not seeing what a jerk they were voting for. Did you see his newscast last week? It was deplorable. The man can't complete a sentence or a thought! we need to stop voting "party" in this country and start voting with our minds and hearts before it's too late!

Sadly, the philosophy of Democrat and Republican has blurred until it is hard to tell one from the other. I'm not sure that it would matter which party was in office, there is the same push for the same outcome. Would anyone else be "allowed" in office unless they ascribed to the same goals as we have seen these past 20 years?

They all want to be in charge, and that seems to be the biggest thing they squabble about. Other than that, most in Washington seem to be on the same page....and it's not the one the rest of America is on!

Isn't it nice to live in a nation that has a president you can denigrate with impunity? I am a retired college professor, and I'm afraid that you are correct about George's speech problems, but you are wrong about his tax policy. The economy seems to be buzzing along quite well.
