Plan for Iraq? Well, let's see. We ousted Saddam, set Iraqis on the path to self-governance, rebuilt their infrastructure, built up their police and army, and have given them a chance to be a free peoples once again. I'd say most of our plans have been accomplished, successfully I might add. The course that remains is to maintain stability and help the growing Iraqi government put down the insurgency and fight the terrorists, until they can do this on their own.

Since the Iraqis are glad we toppled Saddam, and are glad we are still with them, and because of the continued success, why should we not stay the course? There is no timetable to these kinds of things, just as there is no 'War, Liberation, Occupation and Nationbuilding Handbook'. These are all unique situations where initial plans must continually be adapted to the changing circumstances and enemy tactics.

Anybody who tells you they could have planned this all out in advance, or who tells you they would have had an 'exit plan' is lying to you. The military truism is that no plan survives first contact with the enemy. And there is no such thing as an 'exit plan'. The US goes into military situations to seek victory. The only time you need an 'exit plan' is when you're running away, which we are not doing.

Have you been living on a deserted Island somewhere or in a cave? What do you mean no plan? The plan is and has always been to (now pay attention) topple the Saddam regime(done), install a provisional government (done), Help rebuild the infrastructure (50% done), then provide security so the people of Iraq could bring forth their own candidates and hold free elections(did that twice), let them write their own constitution and vote on it(check done), Provide them backup and training so they can build their own security forces (almost done), Keep the terrorist insurgents at bay (almost done), Stay until the newly elected leader of Iraq asks us to leave. Right now he is wanting us to stay. So that is what is meant by "Stay the course". If you don't call that a plan, then I'm sorry.......you are the one that is clueless.

It seems as if you, in your mind, have the answer to the question you ask. It seems that you really just want to make a statement. Maybe someday there will be a 'YAHOO rants'.

Ignoring the statements and replying to the question...

George W Bush's "stay the course" mantra, simply means that we will remain in Iraq until the job is done. The 'job' is to leave Iraq when the government and its military are able to stand on their own. The effect of the mantra repetition, although boring and not exciting, communicates perseverance and persistence. The terrorists in Iraq need to be convinced of this, they need to see that there is no visible end in sight, no goal, or date certain, to strive towards.

Our soldiers' biggest fear is that we will leave before the job is done. And you are correct, our soldiers deserve better...full support from the people which they, by choice, protect and defend.

The plan is to dither and continue along the same lines as now, and to hand the problem over to the next president. That way regardless of what happens after that, Bush has an excuse. If the new president decides to get out of Iraq, Bush claims that he did his best and that the new president chickened out and thwarted american's resolve. If the new president continues the war, he can continue to boast his war president prowess, but not be responsible for anything that happens as the new president deals with it. The critical point to reach is the new presidency. That's the Bush safe zone.

You and I and everybody else reading this have no idea of what the president and his cabinet are planning. When he sits down with the heads of the armed forces he doesn't invite news reporters from all over the world to listen in.
Many think that the president should know just how many soldiers is will take, just how long it will take to do the job. That's impossible. He would have to know exactly what the other side is planning, what they're capable of doing, just how they intend to carry out their plans, etc.
Very few of our military leaders are invited to listen to those plans, so each side in any military action has to guess about a lot of things. Don't expect the impossible.

Geez I have run out of patience answering this question. I have family who are fighting in Iraq against terrorism FOR freedom and they are making progress according to them, they love our way of life enough to sacrifice their lives for it! Do you have a better plan to fight terrorism? Then by all means send it to Bush
at once! Because if you and the other Bush haters on here have a better plan and don't share it with him then it is you who are to blame for the Iraq debacle not Bush! That makes as much sense as what you wrote having heard our president speak and write on this subject for years now. Help him pray for him and our troops! It's
easy just to criticize be positive if you really care about our military over there. I don't think you do I think you like the leaders of the democratic party just want to see Bush fail and I am ashamed of you and your party. But carry on many soldiers have died for your rights. Sorry but just had to vent.

Looks like his plan is working. He opened a can of good old Texas whupass on the evil Sadaam, has killed most of the Terrorists, discovered Iraq's WMD, and has helped the Iraquis form a legitimate government.

I pray that God will continue to bless George Bush and all of our brave troops.

Who says he doesn't have a plan? If he does I sure as hell wouldn't want it given to such as you. All a plan is is a theory and all a theory is is something that can change at any given point. If we don't continue to seek out and stop all this terrorism you and others complaining could well end up like those poor people all over the world found dead. My advice to you is to wake up or one day you may not wake up at all.

Iraq was never a war against terrorism, Iraq is a war for globaization. We tried the normalmethods, giving thm loans that willput them in debt and then we tryed the assasins, but they failed too. Terrorism was just an excuse to use the US' final resort for globalization, military.

A) How do you know there is no plan? Do you get to read classified documents? Do you get to sit in on White House Briefings? I thought not.

B) War is not an exact science. Things change from day to day, and are often out of the control of anyone on our side.
