I'm from Michigan where I am frequently given Canadian quarters, nickles, and dimes as change and often see these coins spent as if they were equal to U.S. coins. But, at the time of me posting this, the Canadian dollar is actualy worth about 0.89 USD, so it would seem that if I get change in a Canadian format I'm actually being ripped off a little.

As coin collector I love getting Canadian coins in my change some are quite valuable and the ones that are common can still be sold to coin dealers for 1 or 2 cents. Either way I always end up "winning".

Try to start a collection if you get bored then throw it on eBay and make a profit.

well, it's the same in Canada. Alot of places like bars and stuff, they basically just take your American dollars as Canadian cause they don't want to do the conversions. You don't care when you're drunk.
