To convert a ratio, 25:26 (i.e. 25 employees vs 26 leased employees), use the following method:
Let's say you want to convert the 25 part of ratio 25:26 to %. Then,
Step 1. Add 25 and 26. 25+26 = 51 (To get the total employees ratio)
Step 2. Divide 25 by 51. 25/51 = 0.4901
Step 3. Multiply the answer by 100. So, answer is 49.01% (% of employees to total employees)
Repeat the same steps for 26 and you get the answer as 50.98% (% of leased employees to total employees)
We need to remember that this is a ratio and not simple division. So, it should be represented as 25:26 and not 25/26. 25/26 could be misleading. In case, it is 25/26 then the answer would be different (25/26 * 100).

Number of employees leased = 25.
Number of employees not leased = 26.
Total number of employees = number of employees leased + number of employees not leased = 25 + 26 = 51.
Percentage of employees leased = (number of employees leased / total number of employees) * 100 = (25 / 51) * 100 = 49.02%.
Consider a simpler example: The ratio of your apples to oranges is 2/3. What percentage of your fruit are apples? The answer is NOT 2/3 = 66%. You have 2+3=5 pieces of fruit total, so the percentage of apples is 2/5 = 40%.

The equation is 25/26 = x/100. Do you remember this from Algebra? You have to get x by itself on one side of the equals sign. So multiply both sides by 100/1. That leaves you with 100/1 x 25/26 = x, or 2500/26 = x.
The percentage you're looking for is 96.4%

KEY here is to understand that a ratio is nothing more than a simple fraction. The word fractions tends to scare people, so we use the less scary term ratio in the business world.
To turn a ratio or fraction into a percentage, you simply divide the top number (numerator) by the bottom number (denominator), and then multiply that result by 100 and stick your percent sign at the end.
So 1/5 would be 1 divided by 5, which gives you 0.20. Multiplying by 100 would give you 20%.

the proper equation is 25/26=x/100, where x= the number you are looking for in which case, you cross-multiply 100 with 25 to get 2500 and 26 with x. then the equation becomes 2500=26x then x= 2500/26 is about....
x = 96.153846%
there are probably more numbers to follow, but this is close enough
as for david k's answer, think about it, does 25 sound like its 49.02% of 26?
