Some psychologists theorise that we all have an entry in the "autistic spectrum" no matter how small. I can't answer quite why I like these things myself, but maybe it's the little autistic in me! I also like my DVD's to be in alphabetical order for the same reasons I think! (yes, I know it's sad). Another theory is that the make-up of the male mind is much more concerned with spacial-awareness, mechanical concepts etc, and although not directly related, such things are part of what helps males to deal with more "practical" aspects of the world, while women, to make a huge generalisation, tend to be less interested, and at least in the majority of cases (trying to be careful what I say here!) less competent, but more focused on emotion and sensitivity, which men (again, huge generalisation) traditionally don't do quite so well at. As we collectively evolve as a species, these things gradually change - upbringing of course plays a huge part, and as our traditional roles in the tribe (or "society" as we sometimes refer to it) change, so we find that the lines that for so long defined our abilities/strengths in relation to each gender adapt also. I would like to think I personally fall somewhere between the two and can be both practical AND emotionally competent, but you'd have to ask someone who knows me I guess!! I'd also like to think we can all be whatever we want to if we try hard enough...

Because of the part of our brain that we use. Tell a man that he has 2 ft left to go when he is reversing into a space, and he will know exactly when to stop. Tell a woman the same thing and she is thinking about what dress she will wear to the office party. Crunch!

It is particularly annoying when you are in a room with say 5-6 guys and they are talking about football. each one has to better the stat that the previous has spouted and they all compete with each other to have the best stat or to know the most stats. We have never wanted you more...
