He did NOT re-sign Manny (Very STUPID on his part), he let Shanahan get away, and he is acting all cocky and for what? We look so stupid in everyone else's eyes! Balfour stinks! What is Holland thinking????

Who else thinks the Wings are going to just SUCK this season?!

I agree with you on the loss of Manny.
He did not let the team down as far as I can see. The team let him down and for him take the blame really irks the hell out of me.
Signing Belfour is a train wreck in the making. He is to old to injured and just to damn bad tempered for a club of our teams caliber.
I cant believe they kept Osgood over Manny.
They should have let Osgood go kept Legace and brought Jimmy Howard back up from Grand Rapids.Maybe the new chant wont be fire Millen this year, Maybe it will be fire Holland.

I think the Wings are building for the future. I think they realize they have a very aging core and really need to be thinking of the future, not about winning a Cup this upcoming season because they just don't have it at this point. The game is much faster and last season, they were built to win the regular season but not the whole thing as evidenced by being bounced by the Oilers in the first round. They have to get younger. I think letting Legace go was asinine as it wasn't his fault they lost. The Shanny signing was a shocker and I don't quite know what his motivations were. It wasn't money because Detroit offered him the same amount. I don't know what he sees in the Rangers, I don't think they will win the Cup either next year. It's a very weird time in Detroit right know.

For me it became the first time McCarty stepped out on the ice contained in the pink Wings uniform back. The dude became purely an mind-blowing tale this three hundred and sixty 5 days. Sweeping/Desecrating the Avs is a special second. I rofl'd extremely complicated the day maximum experts picked the Avs to win in 6 video games. I rofl'd slightly extra sturdy even as the Wings smashed the Avs 8-2 in recreation 4.

I'm scared they may not be as good as they have been for the last 15 years or so. I'm really sad about what Holland has done. Manny is a fine #1, and I cannot figure out why he always takes the blame for the redwings early exit (except that he doesn't speak up and say its not his fault, he lets people blame him). I feel sad that Shanny left, but i feel bad for him at the same time. I don't think he wanted to leave so much, but more that he may not have felt as needed as he definitely is to the team.

i think it is time to rebuild. the wings were getting too old and not fast enough to beat the younger western teams. am i shocked by ken holland siging belfour? no. he is washed up and too old. they should have kept manny. holland did not let shanny leave. shanny felt he could not help the wings win anymore. a smart move in my eyes becuz the wings need to get younger and faster. will they be on top this season? who knows. even if they don't , they won't be too low in their division becuz of how weak the division is. the team needed a shakeup like this since 2002 when they won their last cup. i am sad to see stevie y retire but he retired at the right time. i think the bandwagon fans of detroit just need to wait and see how their team plays before jumping off the bandwagon. good teams don't crumble overnight. i expect to see a totally faster and somewhat younger lineup besides the few older players that remain on the team. they won't be as low as st. louis, columbus or chicago are in their division. my thoughts are just wait and see.

I have to disagree. The choices that Holland made may seem stupid, but in the end Holland will find a way to fill the holes and rebuild a strong Red Wings team. He has done it before.

Ken Holland really needs to get on track here, Red Wings are one of the few teams to have no offf season transactions. many of the other teams have made some nice transactions picking up big players. it almost seems as if hes not trying which is somehwat upsetting. If he cares about his team he should at least try to get some stand out players..

They won't stink, but they won't get the President's Trophy this year either. Holland may just be getting used to the idea of a salary cap, who knows. Manny never rose up and really carried his team this season, and Shanny's getting old. That being said, I personally would have kept both of them, but who knows what he has up his sleeve.

He didn't let shanny get away, read the paper, shanny wanted to leave. They offered him more money than anyone else and he still left. According to shanny himself, he feels that times are changing in detroit with a new set of younger players stepping up and, he's 37 and htere's not much more time to take on a new challenge. He wanted to leave, it's sad, but he had a lot of positive things to say in the detroit news today

You guys will be signing Belfour today also! I'm sick of seeing the wings on top all the time so I'm happy.
Look for Nashville to take the Central, and the wings to be just ahead of St. Louis this coming season.

I think you put that in the wrong area danny boy
