We have evolved to the point that we have to alter the environment. We no longer alter our bodies to fit the environment. Since we cannot change the weather, we put up a barrier to it.

What's wrong with being in the rain? Little children love to play in the rain.

Are you caught up in not getting your clothes wet? Take em off then.

Next time it rains, go for a walk. In the woods if possible.

I haven't used an umbrella in over ten years.

Git a life. Love what the moment holds.

You want us to make the assumption that bright sun is the opposite of rain, and conclude that anything in its extreme is dangerous.

But bright sun is NOT the opposite of rain; it's the opposite of darkness. To ward off darkness, you need a flashlight. But good luck with the umbrella.

We have HORIZONS in philosophy. And when the domain or backdrop is too great, or saturating, we must confine ourselves to a piece of the gestalt. The umbrella wards off the entropy and chaos. It is the wall of difference, distinction and categorization in reason.

When you lose your perspectival hold, you "lose your umbrella" which is what some have interpretted Nietzsche's mad statement to mean.

We are simply struggling with dualities trying to adjust our situation in order to make it more comfortable. Nature is imposing upon us different sufferings and we try to defend our bodies. This philosophy is common for all species - humans, animals and plants alike. We will continue to be bothered by dualities until we come to the transcendental platform. For this we should practice spiritual life amd come to understand our spiritual identity, beyound the dualities of matter. Then we will open the "real umbrella" and we will feel safe in all circumstances.

To shelter from the sun and to shelter from the rain, the same thing. To travel and need shelter, to bring shelter with you ... thus was born the umbrella.

Sure, we like the sun and we like the rain, but to much of a good thing goes against our natural desires so we protect ourselves from the excess.

If you look up and your eyes hurt because of a force of nature...stick an umbrella over your head. I don't know.
