Have got a cycled tank with 6 neon tetra. I would like a blue lobster and or a frog eventually but otherwise any colourful fish. Does anyone know about what order I should introduce fish and if the lobster or frog will be compatible?

Cass - in response to your insult lobsters may be sea salt thats why I ask and by the way they are not fish they are vertebrates. You will find some tropical frogs can live on the bottom of a tropical tank swimming to the surface for air. You are the joke. If you dont know dont respond!

a lobster and a frog are deffinatly uncompatable and having fish with a lobster can be a bad thing the lobster will eventually catch and eat the fish when big enough, if you want a lobster and fish then get top fish something like a hatchet fish and guppies and angle fish but no bottom fish or you will be in trouble.
you will not relise when a lobster has got a fish you will just get up one day and look in your tank and say there are hardly any fish in there where have they all gone?
if you want a frog then they are fine with any kind of fish,
fish can be introduced in any order it is advisable to buy a pleco to help keep the algie down i would wait 3 week before buying any more fish as the bacteria needs to be built up first. platties are ok to buy now as they are very hardy fish.
lobsters are very funny and if you do decide to get one remember to let it out you tank once a week and allow it to walk around on the floor they do breath air and it is aduisable to have a place where they can get out the water by themselfs, and remember they are escape artists so you might find it walking around on the floor having got out its tank by itsself, also they can grow up to a foot so make sure you have a big enough tank
good luck

If you add a blue lobster it will kill you tetras. If you add a lobster and a frog, the frog will go first and the tetras will go next. Consider forgetting about the lobster and sticking with the frog idea. Lobsters are very good hunters and have a voracious appetite. There are not too many fish that are safe to keep with them.
What fish you can add to your tank depends on the size of your tank. You need to peaceful community fish such as danios, platys, mollies, or some gourami. Stay away from barbs (they will nip at your neons and chase them all day) and predatorial fish such as cichlids and knifefish. Once you have established a good base of algae you can consider adding a pleco (be warned they can get large) or a Chinese algae eater.
To address a comment by an earlier responder, if you choose to pursue the blue lobster - do not take it out of the tank regularly. Lobsters (crayfish) are susceptible to disease/fungus/bacteria and cannot be treated for these ailments. (The medications destroy the exoskeleton). Don't let that deter you from endeavouring into the world of crustaceans, however. Blue lobsters are wonderfully entertaining. With regular water changes and standard tank maintenance lobsters are relatively easy to keep. If you give them food and a place to hide in the tank lobsters remain quite happy. If you need further advice please post another question.

The Lobster WILL eat the Neon Tetra, I had two of the Blue Lobsters and they used to eat them all the time.
For first fish the tetra on their own are good, to help aide the tank to settle and mature I suggest you get 2 or 3 small gold fish.
One of the Lobsters climbed out of the tank and I found it dried out behind the cabinet the tank was on and the other dug it's way to Australia and upset the balance of the tank after it had shed it was vulnerable with the soft shell and it also died.
When I tried to replace the Lobsters I was told that they are now illegal in the UK and was no longer able to get one.
Check it out, they are trouble.

A blue lobster can most definately not go with fish unless you want to provide a swimmnig gourmet diet. Besides that, blue lobsters grow to 12"+. Do not listen to the shop, they want you, funnily enough, to buy a lobster, and I'm sure they'd tell you it was SW and grew to 1" if you wanted one for a 3g pico reef. Frogwise, african dwarf frogs are fine, but stay away from africanclawed frogs. These grow as big as your hand, and eat fish.

the blue lobsters will catch and eat anything thats edible. Some fish manage to stay out of the way - if any neons could be able to do it better than some being small and fast and they tend to stick to the middle levels - but really any fish might end up lobster chow. they pretty much eliminate any plants. but they are very intresting and pretty hardy. You have to make sure the lid is absolutely tight - they are great escape artists.

Don't get a freshwater shrimp either. I bought one 3 months ago and it has eaten 1 goldfish and 1 baby freshwater shrimp and 1 2.5 inch blue crafish (lobster) since I bought it. It has an amazing appetite and is very aggressive. I keep it in a separate tank on its own now.

I want to start an outdoor (large) salt water pond and stock it with cold salt water fish, such as cod, rainbow trout, flounder along with lobster, shrimp and or crab....I know NOTHING about this. Been on the net for weeks learning everything I can, but I have more questions now than answers.
Can anyone help this poor soul with some answers?

Lobsters are pretty destructive. Don't plan on putting many plants in, because they'll jet around on the bottome and tear them up. Fish aren't a grand idea with lobsters either. As lobsters have big claws, and grow rapidly, your fish will have short lifespans.
