Don't you think everyone is making TOO BIG a deal out of Zidane's headbutt? I mean...it seems like everyone is dissappointed because they feel he could have gone out with GLORY instead he went out with SHAME...I don't get it...it's his choice, since he did it intentionally...he obviously KNEW he was going to get red-carded...seroiusly..I think the media and fans are more concerned about his GLORY-EXIT than Zidane himself! What he did was his choice...I don't think we should really concern ourselves with it!
Zidane is still one of the greatest and most amazing players on the planet...well, at least in my books! :)

we are ...He is human after all .and fallible ...Even Gods in their rage ravish aplenty ...then why Zizou !! I still love the way he glides with the ball magnetised to his feet or jumps into air to head Goals home...Give him credit for his Game ...don't hate the player ..hate the game...

Yup, I agree. It actually started off with Marco Materazzi insulting Zidane and all Zidane did was to headbutt him and now we are all making such a big deal abt this.

Everyone is making a big deal because that was his last game.Anyway it's not the first time he did this he did it in a match with Juventus too!!!
We don't know what Materazzi told him, some say he called him a "terrorist" or that he insulted his sister Lili,speculations...
Anyway that's no excuse for what he did,and is sure is a bad example for thousands of children that admire him.
Anyway I m italian and I would be so dissapointed with Materazzi if he started all this with a racist comment!!!
Violence and racism have nothing to do with football!!!

sound slike you are rationalizing. The guys is a moron and should be called out ffor his moronic act. Yes, it was his decision. But, he completely destroyed any chance the French had of winning the game. When you are the captain and the leader of a team, you can;t act in a selfish manner. He owed his teammates all he had. Instead, he got tired and frustrated, and let his team down. The medi and fans have every right to chastise him for such a childish act. The world cup, like the olympics, is all abotu sportsmanship. He let himself down, his teammates down and his country down. But most importantly, he tarnished the game and set sportsmanship back about two decades. What a scum bag!
