In my semi-autobiographical novel I want to include my little twin girls but now my son Nigel says they are so not alike they probably have different fathers knowing me. Thinking back there was this party that did get a bit out of hand although I cant remember it much. Can two eggs get fertilized at the same time by two fellahs? If so I won't mention my girls

yes it can happen. And your son is very rude towards you. You have a lot of stuff to deal with.

That is a good question, one which myself and my mates were discussing the other night. some further research and a bit of common sense gave the answer.

Dont worry about it.
An egg can only be fertilised by one sperm so even if you two guys were having sex with you at the same time only one could be the father.
When the egg has been fertilised it can split in two (become twins) etc, but there is absolutely no way that it can be from a different sperm as the egg will only let one sperm in.

By the way i am not a doctor so this isnt based on medical fact but i am 99.999999999999999999999% sure that this will be the case, and i dont think you need to be a doctor to have common sense.

If youre still not sure ask your GP who i think will put your mind at ease about them having different fathers.

One of the reasons twins can act differently though is another matter (remember just cause they are twins does not mean they are identical, both in mental and physical appearance).
A difference could arrise because of one getting slightly more attention than the other, or into trouble more than the other when they are younger and this can lead to differences in attitude later on in life, but do not worry about this because it is not something bad or damaging it is just normal.
At the end of the day we are all just a product of our own situation and perceptions can change throughout life.

Anyway hope this helps a wee bit.

Yes. If two eggs are in the tube and you have sex with two different men in that short time when you're ovulating it can happen. It's rare but there are instances of a woman giving birth to twins of different races.

you should probably go on the net for more medical or scientific data, but i'm thinking yes, it can happen. however, twins can be by the same father but are fraternal and not identical. two eggs can be fertilized, on the same night, by one father or two. within the same week too, i would imagine, if more than one egg is released. if twins can be fraternal, there has to be more than one egg that is released. my twins are identical, but my friends twins are fraternal, and i'm sure she would only have had sex with her husband. i think the only way you would know for sure is through dna testing.good luck. ps it's not my call of course, but everyone needs to know who they truly come from, for a connection to theirs, and for possible medical reasons too. again, good luck to you

That kind of doubt needs research and a Ph.D. And it costs both money and time. There are many doubtful cases in your life. Just chose only the pleasant one, and get through it. You will be happy to reach the answer. But if you chose the one that brings your head to the wall, you will be down forever.

Yes this is fesible. So long as it happened within (I think) 24 hrs.
I' m sure there is a way to tell the paternity of the twins, at least the dna of the twins.

Yes, that can happen the chances are extremely slim I believe but it can happen. I think that you would have had to have sex with these extremely close to one another. Like within a couple of hours. But I think that your best bet is to ask a doctor about that. If I am not mistaken it can happen.
