I recently accepted a promotion, which requires me to relocate. After accepting, I realized I can not find "adequate" housing, and still pay my bills with the salary that I we agreed upon. Is it acceptable to renegotiate salary, after accepting the offer?????

Yes, go back to your hr rep or whoever you interviewed with and tell them that you have reconsidered your options and that you will not be able to relocate based on the numbers salary wise . If they would still like for you to move then you will need more money.

When corporate offers you money for a promotion they always give you the low end first, they never give you the high end. Remeber do not be greedy, but if you truly need more money to lve then ask for it. Do you think they would move somewhere with no real money?

This might be cheating... but the easiest way to re-negotiate a salary is to hire a professional to help you. As a professional salary negotiator myself, I have negotiated higher salaries for over 700 people. My trick is to handle the entire thing by email. Negotiating by email improves the odds for an amateur negotiator. That’s because it takes away your employer’s ability to "read you" in person and bluff you into taking less. Over email you can carefully choose every word. And a professional like me can get you every penny you deserve without risking your job. The only rule is that you can never tell ANYONE that you had outside help. To learn more check out NegotiatingSalary com

Call them and tell them that you liked the offer but you have found a job offering the same salary in your area and see if they would be willing to bump up the salary or pay for your relocation.

If your HR or superiors have indicated some range of estimated costs in your new work location, and the actuals have turned out to be much higher, then this would be a good starting point for your to approach them for re-negotiation.

Before you start the talks, do you like the job and the environment? This will guide the rest of the negotiations.

Good luck!

Um...no. They offered you a position contingent on the salary and you accepted it and that's that. If you had tried to negotiate they may not have given you the position. You can always try though but i really don't think anything will come out of it.

Perhaps.

You accepted the job, and the company has every right to hold you to the agreed salary.

Asking to renegotiate could get you fired.

But it's up to the company.

Absolutely not. Once you have accepted the offer, all bets are off. That's why it is SO important to negotiate things like that early.

i would explain the situation to your employer, and see if they could compinsate you for adequate housing as well as relocation fee's. some major company's will do that for their employee's.

They rpobably knew this before talking to you about the job. So, go ahead and ask. The worst that could happen is" NO we won't!"

I dont see why not just tell them what is going on and if they really want you there they will be more than happy to do whatever it takes. If they dont then u are just another employee and they dont appreciate you.
