To format your harddrive you will need to get a recovery disc or a Windows CD.
No boot disc is necessary unless you are trying to install Windows 95.
The recovery disc will usually come with your computer, if you dont have one, you will need to call your computer manufacturing company and order one.
The recovery disc and the windows CD will partition your harddrive and it will wipe out your memory and start from fresh.

*******************************

You will want to backup before you format and you do not want to format unless you have a Windows Installation CD or else you will be left with a box that has no Windows Platform. Make sure you back up everything before you reinstall Windows or format your computer.

There are a few ways to make your computer a bit speedier.

Go to MY COMPUTER and right click on your C drive and go to PROPERTIES.

You should try doing a DISK CLEANUP and then make sure you check the boxes that delete temporary folders and files, and make sure you also select disk compression. This will give space to your hard drive.

Also do a disk defrag so that you can organize all your files so that its easier for your system to track files.

You might want to add more RAMS. Even after you reinstall or format your computer, you will still have problems in the future once you start installing programs. Try upgrading your computer and add more memory so that you never have this problem again.

EDIT: Also, go to Start Menu, then RUN and type msconfig and hit enter. Under the startup tab, uncheck programs that you dont want running in your background during startup. Then restart your computer.

Create a Start up:

Insert a Floppy Disk - My Computer - Right click on Floppy Drive and click Format - select Startup Disk and Press Start.

After that Restart Your PC with the Floppy Disk In... and the type

format c:/s/q

and press the Enter Key.

After doing that the Computer where your operating system is installed will be Formated...

After that Insert your OS example Windows XP Pro... And let is be a bootable Disc.. and you can follow the Instructions while Installing it...

I hope this has helped you.... If it did .. Vote me thanks...

Bye...

See...ya

You will need the "Boot Disk" to do this. A boost disk is the disk with the operating system on it, such as Windows XP or Windows 2000. If you have the disk then place it into your computer and run the disk, there will be an option to format.

But before you do this you may want to Save some of your files, since once you format, you will not have them anymore.

May be much easier to clean it. You will lose EVERYTHING if you format including your drivers that make your PC work. If you don't have a reformat disc from your manufacturer that is pretty hard.

If you do, that's easy. You just stick the CD in and reboot your PC. But that puts your PC back to the day you bought it. You lose EVERYTHING.

To clean it go to

www.filehippo.com

Download CrapCleaner (CCleaner)

Run it

Go to

START > CONTROL PANEL > ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS

Remove the programs you no longer want.

Back at File Hippo, Download

AdAware
Spybot

Run those

If you don't have antivirus, download
AVG

All of the above are free

Those will clean your PC of 99 percent of the junk out there.

Well, you can't format your computer, but you can reformat your hard drive. And yes, everything will be deleted. I suggest getting anti-malware tools and disk cleaning tools to run on your system. Or, go buy a new hard drive, take out the old one, re-install the OS on the new one, and then you have a all your stuff on the old one and can swap drives whenever you feel like doing this.

Hey,

I bet you know how to burn stuff, so burn all the stuff you need on a CD. And use the windows CD that came with your computer to reformat it, it should have an option. But if your still young and aer not to sure on how to use a computer you should ask a parent or older sibiling...or get a technican to do it, they don't charge that much anymore!

Open up "my computer" and right click your harddrive. Then click on format. Follow the steps and enjoy! You better have your original software on a disk before you do this though.

Yes, everything will be deleted and removed, and you will have to put everything back on. I am not sure if you want to try to attempt it by yourself. If you still want to attempt it, you can email me and I'll help you step by step. Oh yes, do you have an operating system disk? (ie. windows 98, windows 2000 or windows xp) If so, you can email me at dews_wife2004@yahoo.com

Computer Slow

Download and then run startup.exe at:

http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml......

Can't live without it and windows...

Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need.

Other things to try:

1 - Disk Cleanup (removal of temp files, cookies, etc.)
2 - Defrag
3 - Registry Cleanup (CAN BE VERY RISKY!)
